Who’s Behind The Frame?

Hi there! I’m Sam Perna :) I’m a Los Angeles based creative artist with a big love for photography, dance, crafts, cats, thrifting, and fashion. All the things that keep life a little playful and inspired.

When I’m not behind the camera, I’m usually hunting through thrift stores, getting lost in creative projects, or hanging out with my pets.

My work is all about intention and authenticity. I want to capture the most real, unfiltered version of you. The little in-between moments, the laughs you didn’t plan, and everything that makes you, you. I truly believe the more comfortable you feel, the more natural and effortless your photos will look. That’s why my job goes beyond taking photos. I focus on creating an environment that feels welcoming, relaxed, and safe for expression, where you can just be yourself without pressure.

I love a collaborative process, so we’ll create your session together in a way that feels fun, natural, and aligned with your vision. No “what do I do with my hands?” energy here, though honestly, a little awkwardness is always welcome too.

Also, important mention: I come with two very professional (and very fluffy) assistants; Merlin and Tink. They are friendly, photo-loving pets who occasionally steal the spotlight and will absolutely try to join your session. Consider yourself warned.

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to reach out, I’m always happy to help and make sure you feel confident and excited about the experience.

Can’t wait to meet you and create something special together :)

The Experience

Before Your Session

  • Reach out to begin the process, and we can schedule an optional consultation call or Zoom meeting to go over your goals, vision, and inspiration for the shoot. This is a great opportunity to connect, ask questions, and get a feel for my approach and personality, which can help you feel more confident in your decision to book.

  • During the consultation (if you choose to have one), we’ll also discuss wardrobe guidance tailored to your shoot style, as well as location planning if your session will take place outdoors. The goal is to make sure everything feels aligned with your vision and comfortable for you.

  • Once your session is booked, you will receive an email confirmation with all of your customized shoot details, including time, location, and any agreed-upon planning notes so you know exactly what to expect.

During Your Session

  • My priority is to create a relaxed, comfortable, and natural environment where you can feel at ease in front of the camera. The session is designed to feel unhurried and enjoyable rather than stiff or overly posed.

  • I provide natural posing guidance throughout the shoot. You are always welcome to bring inspiration or pose ideas, and I will help translate those into movements and moments that feel authentic to you. Direction is always collaborative, you’ll never be left wondering what to do, but you’ll also never feel overly controlled.

  • The session is built around working with your natural movement, energy, and personality. I focus on observing how you naturally carry yourself and gently guiding you so the final images feel like an elevated but genuine version of you.

After Your Session

  • Clients have the option to complete full payment after the shoot if it has not already been taken care of beforehand.

  • Within approximately two weeks of your session, you will receive your private online gallery where you can view your images and select your favorite edits.

  • Editing style and overall aesthetic direction will be briefly discussed at the end of your shoot based on your inspiration and the feel we created during the session, ensuring the final edits match your vision as closely as possible.
